Common Courtesy....

How hard is it for you to call someone back? I ask myself that question as I sit.....and wait....

I know that in 'this day and age' that the way we as people communicate has changed. More and more people don't actually 'talk' to one another. Chat, text, blog, vlog, email, Skype - but wait, even Skyping takes some sort of 'face to face' interaction, even if it is through a webcam. Yet, with all the new and improved ways we can now communicate, have we forgotten HOW to communicate? Have we lost touch with keeping in touch? It seems so simple, quick and easy to just 'text' someone, 'Hey - what's up' -- but, are we really interested in what their response is? And this, is just for social means.

But, how about how we interact in the business world?
I work in a business where the core to my success is how well I am able to communicate with others. How am I able to connect with my clients, with their needs - am I truly listening to what they are saying, what they aren't saying. But it seems that, in my 'green-ness' In This Market, I'm feeling like I've done something wrong, when in all actuality - people have forgotten one basic thing. The common courtesy of communication.
As a 'newbie', I do a lot of reaching out - getting my name out there. Working on getting people to think of ME, when they have a Real Estate issue/venture. So, as you can guess, I am working a lot of 'lead' based referrals, i.e. hits off of my listing information, cold calls into my office, etc. So, when I get a call - and the person is asking specific information, that I have answers to, help them out - even go and show the property, etc. I will follow up with them the next day. AND GET NO RESPONSE. I'll wait a few more days, and call or email again. NOTHING. These people called ME - wanted something from ME - (or whomever answered the phone that day), these were not people who I hunted down and pursued. So, why is it so hard for people to return a phone call, email, etc? I don't care if you decided the property wasn't for you - if you've changed your mind and decided on something else. But, at least give me the common courtesy of SOME SORT of response. I'm a big girl - I can take it....I just think it's rude not to respond at all.

Until next time - when my phone rings -
I'll still be In This Market....
