"Yes, I am starting a new career in Real Estate - Yes, In This Market...", is inevitably what I end up saying after someone asks and then replies in disbelief what I am doing now.
Why not start a new career in Real Estate? It's something that I've always been interested in - my mom has often reminded me how I would ask her to stop at Open Houses just so I could 'check out' the house and understand why that house costs that much when this house only cost this much. "But the Market is sooooo terrible!" And this is coming from someone who isn't in Real Estate or anything to do with housing/banking, etc. Ok, yes - it's not great. I can understand how and why people are not seeing the entire picture. The news media has been giving a very dim light on the housing sector and with the economy looking even less shiny, if that is the only place where people are getting their information, then sure - it would seem like not a great idea. But, if you are truly considering this as a career change, then you owe it to yourself to do your own homework. Remind yourself that the Big NETWORK media will give you a broad aspect - national aspect - of housing and economy. But real estate is based on LOCAL economies - LOCAL markets, and every market is different. And right now, where I am, the market is beginning to grow.
What better time is there to learn the true ins and outs of real estate, than when you are a 'newbie', when it's a little 'slow' and get your feet moving...so when it picks up, you are already running and on the go!
